Dr. Ewelina Boczkowska holds a Ph.D. in Musicology from University of California in Los Angeles and a Bachelor of Music’s degree in Music History (magna cum laude) from McGill University. Her research interests include music and memory, film music, Chopin, and Polish émigré composers (Jerzy Fitelberg; Alexander Tansman). Dr. Boczkowska and co-editor Dr. Michael Baumgartner are collaborating on three essay collections about European film music, including Music, Collective Memory, Nostalgia, and Trauma in European Cinema after the Second World War (Routledge, 2019). She has published in 19th-Century Music and Nineteenth-Century Music Review and contributed chapters to Sto lat muzycznej emigracji. Kompozytorzy polscy za granicą (1918-2018) (2018) and American dream: Polscy twórcy za oceanem (forthcoming). She has presented at international conferences and meetings of the American Musicological Society, Association for Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies, and Society of Cinema and Media Studies. In 2019, she was a visiting research fellow at University of Gothenburg in Sweden. Dr. Boczkowska is currently an Associate Professor of Musicology at Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University, where she was awarded Distinguished Professorships in Service (2016) and Scholarship (2020).
