Physics Major

What is physics? Physics is the foundation of science. If you want to truly understand the world around you, then welcome to our universe. You'll enjoy it here.

What You'll Study

Physics is the scientific study of matter and energy and how they interact with each other. And because everything around us is made up of matter and energy, then physics really explains how things work, from the smallest particles to the structure of the universe. To get a thorough understanding of these concepts, you'll take a large variety of physics courses with a side of calculus and differential equations.

Graduating with a bachelor's degree can lead you into to a huge range of fields—there are jobs for physicists in industries ranging from energy and space to medicine, law and entertainment! Lots of our graduates also go on to pursue master's and doctoral degrees.

Major

  • Physics Major

Physics majors pursue either a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree. The BA degree is designed for students interested in fields that benefit from a strong background in physics or for those planning to terminate their education at the bachelor's degree level. The BS degree is designed for students who plan to pursue graduate studies in the field.

Core courses are the same for either degree, with a few additional requirements for the BS degree.
