What You'll Study
Painting encourages you to recognize, widen and strengthen your personal sensibilities, while printmaking focuses on allowing you to develop skills and knowledge in traditional and contemporary print media.
As a student following the Painting and Printmaking tracks within the Studio Art major, you'll have access to spacious, naturally lit studios for an accommodating work environment both during and after your classes. The studios also offer individual space for advanced students and non-toxic methods.
You'll experience professional development throughout the many opportunities to display your art to be judged at McDonough Museum of Art and The Butler Institute of American Art — and for printmaking students, the Red Press Collaborative visiting artist program.
Major and Tracks
After successful completion of the Foundations Portfolio Review within the Studio Art major, you'll take courses in both painting and printmaking, giving you a better idea of which emphasis you'd like to choose. You can continue on with painting, printmaking or work across both areas.
