Position Description:

A Student Office Assistant performs the following duties:

  • Greets students requesting services and directs them to the proper area
  • Answers the telephone, takes messages, makes requested telephone calls
  • Runs errands on campus (print shop, central services, making copies, etc.)
  • Distributes information to students, appropriate university services, and organizations
  • Assists with mailings
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Minimum Requirements:

  • Must enjoy helping other students
  • Superior customer service skills, including, but not limited to responding to questions and requests for service; use of the telephone; scheduling appointments; appropriate referral to University services
  • General clerical skills, including, but not limited to use of basic office equipment
  • Knowledge of, or ability to learn, basic information related to departmental responsibilities and general University information
  • Maintain a neat professional appearance and demeanor
  • Must be able to work flexible hours
