Cindy is the glue that holds the office of the President together. With the ever changing of leadership, she remains steadfast and continues to guide the next president with excellency. She is kind and benevolent, especially with our students, staff and faculty. She is a great representation of YSU on and off campus. What a joy to have an advocate at our fingertips!!


Michelle Nelson

Michelle Nelson is an inspiring leader, mentor and professor in the Graphic Design field! She's kind and has the biggest heart to help all her students achieve greatness. I've been present to her passion and going above and beyond to help with one-on-one advice for students. She develops inspiring courses and projects to uplift and motivate. She has a special place in my heart, because she opened the door for me to teach part-time Graphic Design, and working with the students has been my most favorite thing.

They're all bright, talented, amazing and energizing! With Michelle's guidance I was able to feel confident in a solid curriculum and encouraged to add my personal talent, flair and love to the course. She's someone I look up to and feel in my heart. She deserves recognition this month!!

Martha broke ground for women in history and academia when she joined the faculty at YSU. In her remarkable career here, she has provided a model for excellence in leadership. She has also served as a mentor, supporting the achievements of underrepresented students and colleagues.

Shanon Tirone

I am nominating Shannon Tirone because of the outstanding leadership skills she has displayed during her career here at YSU. She is a role model for any woman desiring to excel in higher education, the private sector, or the corporate world. Shannon is responsible for several divisions on campus along with their sub departments which engage most aspects of the University benefiting, students, faculty, staff, and the community at large. These are the YSU Police, Alumni, Events, Marketing and Communications and the WYSU radio station which is heard worldwide. Shannon not only has leadership skills but maintains an approachable and kind demeanor. Her decision making and concern for people has brought growth to each area mentioned above. She is also involved in local community organizations that focus on empowering those less fortunate, a true sign of a great leader and role model.

She is kind, friendly, open to talk to, and genuinely cares about each of her staff. She is never irritated or bothered when I ask her questions. But it's the opposite with her - she is always willing to help and is a great team leader because she is a team player.

Susan was recommended to me when I was going through a personal financial dilemma. I feel that she went up and above the call of duty by giving me numerous resources to help me in my time of need. I was desperate, and she helped me. She even nominated me for a scholarship, which I am humbled to say, I received. She has a great spirit about her. Someone who is always willing to help others, and I appreciate her so much. Words cannot express how grateful I am for all she has done for me.

I have accomplished this task while also working a fulltime job and completing my internship as well. I am a mother of my two beautiful children My son and My daughter. I am also a Gammy to my Grandson they are the wind beneath my wings, and they motivate me to be the best version of ME. I do not make any excuse; I just take care of the assignment in which God has placed me on. Jeremiah 29:11 are the plans that God has me. My Testimony is if you believe it then you can achieve it.
