Specialized Internship Programs

Ohio Export internship program (OEIP)

The Ohio Export Internship Program (OEIP) is offered through the WCBA in partnership with Ohio Department of Development. This program combines a spring semester export-focused course covering Global Supply Chain, International Finance, International Marketing, and Global Business Management with a paid summer internship. The class has 5 Certificates and is all hands-on with workshops, speakers, and a field trip. For the internship, students will be matched with an Ohio company where they will get the opportunity to work in a professional setting together with the company's executives and apply the knowledge learned in the classroom. Over the summer, students work 40 hours a week for 12 weeks, earning $17 per hour. Students must have a 3.0 GPA to apply and be at a sophomore, junior, or senior (graduating the December after the internship or later) level. Applications open late August/early September.

Procurement Internship Program

The Procurement Internship Program will train students and allow them to apply that training during internships with local companies engaged in government contracting.

  • As a partnership between student and company, the program will benefit small-to-midsize businesses in the Mahoning Valley area by matching them with a government procurement-trained intern.
  • Students must apply to the program in August / September (watch your email!).
  • The students selected for the program will take a 3-credit hour spring course focused on government procurement, in which students will gain knowledge and network with government procurement professionals.
  • Upon successful completion of the course, students will be matched with local companies for a summer internship and will apply the knowledge gained from the classroom experience. The summer internship will be full-time, last 12 weeks, and will pay $17 an hour. These standards allow the internship to qualify for 3 additional credits for the students.
  • Over the summer, students work 40 hours a week for 12 weeks, earning $19 per hour. Students must have a 3.0 GPA to apply and be at a sophomore, junior, or senior (graduating the December after the internship or later) level. Applications open late August / Early September.
