Martin Luther King Jr (MLK) Observance: CAMPUS LEADERSHIP NOMINATION FORM

The purpose of the Martin Luther King Jr (MLK) Observance is to acknowledge, celebrate and embrace Dr. King’s legacy of service and support for individuals of all backgrounds. The annual event recognizes that we all share a common goal of educating the leaders of tomorrow and the belief that there is importance in turning community concerns into citizen’s actions of service.

The Campus Leadership Award recognizes a University faculty, staff or administrator who exemplifies a commitment to service and inclusion throughout campus and the community.

The following information is required:

PROVIDE THE FOLLOWING CONTACT INFORMATION OF THE PERSON BEING NOMINATED:
ESSAY REQUIREMENTS:
  • Brief bio of nominee:
  • Provide evidence that the nominee has a sustained commitment to service within the YSU campus.
  • Provide evidence that nominee has instilled the value of service and inclusion in others.
  • Discuss the impact of nominee’s acts of service and inclusive practices within the campus community.
  • Provide evidence of nominee’s service focused leadership and how it strengthens the YSU mission to promote lifelong learning and civic responsibility.
  • Provide examples of the nominee’s ability to enhance partnerships between the university and community.
  • Provide additional information to support nomination.
ESSAY NOMINATION SUGGESTIONS:

  • Address each area in detail and avoid general statements
  • Provide the necessary information for each question to qualify and strengthen your nomination (If your nominee has been involved in several initiatives, make sure to provide commentary on each to strengthen your nomination.)
