Teaching and Research Interests

My primary research interests lie in the area of language processing and second language acquisition. Some of the fundamental questions in the field have to do with how we process, acquire and represent language in the mind. In my research work I attempt to shed light on some of the aspects of these questions by adding experimental data to the growing literature on the subject matter. In particular, I have been working on the acquisition of Spanish morphosyntax by English and Russian native speakers and on gender processing in Russian. Recently, I have been interested in how we make decisions differently when speaking our native language vs. a second or a heritage language.
