Olympic Gold Medalist presents YSU Thomas Colloquium September 14

Allyson Felix, the most decorated female track and field athlete in Olympic history, presents at the Youngstown State University Thomas Colloquium 7 p.m. September 14 at Stambaugh Auditorium.

Admission to the lecture is free, but tickets are required. Tickets are available, beginning August 7, at the Stambaugh Auditorium box office or online.

Felix first attended the Olympic Games at 18 years old and has since amassed 13 global titles, 10 US Championships, 11 Olympic Medals, a World Record and delivered the fastest 400-meter relay split in World Championship history. She holds the most United States Track & Field Olympic medals of all time. Her accomplishments solidify her as one of the greatest female athletes ever and has garnered attention from media companies such as Vogue, Glamour, Essence, Self, O Magazine, Sports Illustrated and Elle.

She serves as an ambassador for Right to Play and Play Works, as well as being a member of The President’s Council on Fitness, Sport and Nutrition.

Felix fought for new maternity policies for female athletes and continues to fight against discrimination in the athletic world. Recently, she turned her attention to helping the National Football League’s Nnamdi Asomugha provide Los Angeles area teens with tools to prepare themselves for higher education through their Asomugha College Tour for Scholars’ College Summit.

YSU, through an endowment established by Paul J. and Marguerite K. Thomas, began the annual “Colloquium on Free Enterprise” in 1981. Reflecting the Thomases’ involvement in the business community and their interest in the community-at-large, the Colloquium fosters ideas that are conducive to the growth of the free enterprise system. It promotes free enterprise as a viable force in the U.S. economy. The aims of the Colloquium are: to provide a series of outstanding lectures or workshops by recognized leaders in business, economics, and finance for both the public and the academic community, to provide a library for use by business people, students, and citizens of the community, to serve as a clearing house for the exchange of ideas to foster common goals of industry, business, and finance in the free enterprise system, and to stimulate the thinking and long-range planning of business, government, and individuals on ways to foster the growth of free enterprise.
