Position Title: Club Sports and Summer Camps Graduate Associate Intern (GAI)

Club Sports
- Supervise the usage of all facilities, equipment, and Club Sports during practices,competition, and other special events.
- Provide information to students about Club Sports, such as currently active clubs, how to start a new club, departmental policies/procedures, etc.
- Develop marketing, club sports related programs, and promotional strategies to increase recruitment and participation.
- Attend and assist with training sessions for Club Sports Staff, Club Officers Retreat, and Club Sports Council monthly meetings.
- Help assess interview materials, conduct interviews, and notify applicants of updates.Conduct evaluations on returning staff.
- Manage Club Sports facility practices by reviewing schedules biweekly in order to ensure its accuracy and proactively identify potential conflicts.
- Preliminary review of Club Sports Council Newsletter.
- Assist with coordinating, staffing, and facilitating Club Sports programming areas.
- Help prepare and staff any Club Sports home events.
- Communicate and respond with urgency regarding any questions, concerns, and emergencies pertinent to Club Sports.
- Supervise the Club Sports Executive Board by taking on the role of Chief of Staff and lead bi-weekly meetings.
- Update Club Sports Staff and Club Sports Council Manual as needed.
- Supervise up to four clubs for one-on-one monthly meetings and assist with needs.
- Complete Safe Drivers Course to drive golf cart.
Summer Camps
- Provide administrative support – supervise the usage of all facilities, daily operations,equipment, inventory, and Camp Staff during Pete & Penny’s Summer Camps.
- Fulfill duties of the Coordinator of Summer Camps in his/her absence. This includes, but is not limited to the following:
- Make decisions on camper registrations, waiting lists, session changes, etc.
- Contact parent/guardian in case of emergencies.
- Implement behavior and conflict management strategies. Follow guidelines for camper discipline and follow through with appropriate actions.
- Develop annual marketing and promotional strategies to reach certain camper populations. Also assist with Camp Staff recruitment strategies.
- Contribute to annual programming – create graphics and images, develop camp themes,identify target populations to market, brainstorm innovative ideas.
- Take inventory of all summer camp supplies at the end of camps.
- Attend and assist with training sessions and teambuilding activities for Camp Staff.

Administrative
- Participate as an executive member of Student Recreation Advisory Committee (SRAC)and attend GAI meetings.
- Dedicate 4 hours towards Office Assistant rotation.
- Conduct marketing campaigns and monitor social media platforms.
- Attend program-related conferences,seminars, symposiums, and workshops.
- Perform research projects to aid in the overall development and growth of Club Sports and Summer Camps.
- Demonstrate sound judgment and good moral character.
- Represent YSU Campus Recreation and all program areas with distinction.
- Collaborate with other YSU departments for various events/programs.
- Work with other Campus Rec Graduate Assistants on specific projects such as presentations for NIRSA, ORSA, All-Staff Training etc.
- Duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Sport Management, Recreation Management, Physical Education,or similar.
- Affiliation with National Intramural and Recreation Sport Association (NIRSA).
- Participated a minimum of one semester on a Club Sports team. Having officer and/or executive experience within club is preferred.
- Prior experience in a summer camp setting as a Counselor or Administrator.
- Availability during some nights and weekends.
- Strong writing, communication, and computer skills.
- Must have and/or be willing to be certified in CPR/First Aid/AED.
Reports To: Coordinator of Competitive Sports and Summer Camps
Salary: $13.00 per hour. 25 hours a week
