YSU Ethics CPE Day held at YSU on May 10
The Williamson College of Business Administration will host the YSU Ethics CPE Day, 8 a.m. - Noon, Wednesday, May 10. The program, featuring ethics and an economic update, will be held in-person.
A continental breakfast will be provided. This session satisfies the 3 hours of credit in Professional Standards and Responsibilities, commonly known as Ethics, that are required by the Accountancy Board of Ohio in order to apply for or renew an Ohio CPA license. To register for the seminar, visit ysu.edu/accountingseminars.
Attendees will learn ways to set and manage ethical expectations in all aspects of their career while fulfilling the ABO’s professional standards requirement. They will also explore how societal shifts in moral and ethical behavior are changing systems, processes, and impacting decision making in business today and will discover how to integrate ethical concepts and crosschecks into training, auditing, tax and financial reporting procedures.
Trusted finance professionals must be able to identify, evaluate and address any action or situation that threatens the core values of the profession: integrity, objectivity, and due care. However, when it comes to making the best decision, there is not always one perfect right answer for every situation. Professional ethics is about looking at several solutions and choosing the best path. In addition to reviewing professional standards applicable to CPAs, this ethics session examines key concepts in living out ethics in the workplace for all professionals including setting the ethical vision; the cost and nature of ethical failures; elements of unethical culture; the cost of integrity; ethics and diversity; due care; CPA rule reminders, and much more.
The economic update, offering 1.2 economics CPE credits, will dive into the economic and business climate and how best to navigate the multitude of changes occurring now and, in the future, (i.e., inflation, lingering recession, growth in Ohio).
The facilitator will provide contextual examples relevant to audience participants to illustrate ethical concepts and dilemmas. CPE Certificate will be issued by the OSCPA after the reporting forms are submitted. Free parking is available in the M30 parking deck on Wick Avenue.
The Williamson College of Business Administration will continue to create accounting continuing education seminars for 2023-24 as a part of a strategic initiative to bring high quality, in-demand professional development and continuing education programming to the region.
