First Year Advising

If you are enrolled in YSU 1500S or YSU 1500 Success Seminar, your instructor will also be your First Year Academic Advisor.

We are committed to providing holistic advising, which considers the whole student and integrates academic, personal, and professional development. Holistic advising recognizes that each student is a unique individual with their own set of experiences, goals, and challenges. It involves building a supportive and trusting relationship with students, understanding their backgrounds, aspirations, and any obstacles they may face. By adopting a holistic approach, we aim to empower students to take charge of their educational journey and make informed decisions that align with their personal values and long-term objectives. 

All degree-seeking students with under 60 credit hours are required to meet with an Academic Advisor prior to being eligible to register for classes for the following semester.
