Art Scholarship Application

All application materials must be submitted by 5 PM on Tuesday, February 7, 2025. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

All awards when combined with all other financial assistance will not exceed the cost of full tuition, books and supplies.

  • Al Bright Memorial Scholarship

    The Al Bright Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to a full-time student entering their sophomore year (preference given to student that can describe a unique approach to the work they create with an interest in teaching). All eligible art majors are encouraged to apply for this competitive award. Applicants must have completed the FAFSA and must include a letter with an explanation of the type of art that inspires them and their unique approach along with a digital portfolio of 10-12 works to be evaluated by the selection committee.

  • David Hume Kennerly Scholarship

    The David Hume Kennerly Scholarship will be awarded to student majoring in photography or digital media. Student must be a sophomore or higher. Applicants must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA and include an artist’s statement and a digital portfolio of work to be evaluated by the selection committee. Portfolios must include 10-12 works. Applicants must complete the FAFSA.

  • Elaine Glasser Memorial Scholarship

    The Elaine S. Glasser Art Education Award will be awarded to an art education major. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Submit application, a written statement demonstrating need, and digital portfolio with image list of 10-12 works to be evaluated by the selection committee.  

  • Florence Simon Beecher Talent Scholarship 

    The Florence Simon Beecher Talent Scholarship will be awarded to a full-time student majoring in art.  Students must have a minimum 2.5 GPA and submit an annual portfolio of recent artwork. This scholarship is available to incoming and current art students.

  • George Meshel Scholarship

    The George Meshel scholarship is awarded to a studio art student with a concentration in Painting/Interdisciplinary Studio. Applicant must have a minimum 2.7 GPA. Applications must include an artist’s statement and a portfolio of work to be evaluated by the selection committee. Portfolios must include 10-12 works.

  • Howard I Fisher Memorial Scholarship

    The Howard I Fisher Memorial Scholarship Graphic Design major will be awarded through a memorial fund in remembrance of Howard I. Fisher. Applicants must have a minimum 2.8 GPA, have completed the FAFSA and must include a letter expressing interest and with a digital portfolio of 10-12 works to be evaluated by the selection committee. This scholarship is available to incoming and current art students.

  • Jessica C. Porcase Memorial Scholarship

    The Jessica C. Porcase Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to a full-time female Graphic Design major (preference given to student who works part-time and played a sport in H.S.).  Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and must submit application, include a letter expressing interest along with a portfolio of 10-12 works to be evaluated by the selection committee.

  • Margaret Evans Memorial Scholarship

    The Margaret Evans Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to an art education major, who has successfully completed the Freshman Foundation Portfolio Review. Applicants must have a minimum 2.5 GPA, completed FAFSA, submit application, letter expressing interest, and digital portfolio with image list of 10-12 works to be evaluated by the selection committee.

  • Robert J. Yalch Endowment Scholarships

    The Robert J. Yalch Endowment Scholarship will be awarded to a student who majors in art.  Submit application, letter expressing interest, digital portfolio, and image list of 10-12 works to be evaluated by the selection committee.

  • Robert J. Yalch Photo Award

    The Robert J. Yalch award will be awarded to outstanding students majoring in Photography. Applicants must be a sophomore. Students must submit application, artist statement, letter expressing interest and digital portfolio with image list of 10-12 works to be evaluated by the selection committee.

  • Ron Mistovich Emerging Artist Memorial Scholarship

    The Ron Mistovich Emerging Artist Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to a current sophomore, junior or senior art student. Applicant must be a full-time student with a minimum overall 3.25 GPA. Applications must include a statement of need and interest and a portfolio of work to be evaluated by the selection committee. Portfolios must include 10-12 works. The scholarship is renewable, but the applicant must submit to the application and review process yearly.

  • Ruth Davies Newman Scholarship

    The Ruth Davies Newman scholarship is to be awarded to a female studio art major in honor of Ruth Davies Newman, Youngstown College Class of 1943 who had to leave after her first year due to family financial circumstances. Applicants must be sophomore in class rank (must have completed first year); must have a minimum 2.5 GPA; and must demonstrate financial need (FAFSA form must be completed). Applicants must submit application, include a letter expressing interest along with a portfolio of 10-12 works to be evaluated by the selection committee.

  • Theodore R. Cubbison Scholarship

    The Theodore R. Cubbison Scholarship is awarded to current students majoring in painting/printmaking and successfully completed their freshman year. Applications must include an artist’s statement and a portfolio of work to be evaluated by the selection committee. Portfolios must include 10-12 works (drawings may be included).
