Overview of Penguin Preview Day Events
When you get here:
For the Saturday, October 26 program:
A parking reservation has been made for you at the M30 Parking Deck (free of charge). Please use GPS address: 453 Wick Ave. Youngstown OH 44502 for exact directions to the parking deck’s Wick Avenue entrance. Once parked, please make your way to the 4th floor of the deck and take the walking bridge over into the core of campus. From there, please follow the Penguin Preview Day directional signs guiding you from the deck to the WATTS.
We will also have shuttles available the morning of the event to deliver participants from the parking deck to the WATTS. Shuttle pickup will be located at the McDonough Museum of Art from 7:45 - 9:15 AM. Simply walk out of the parking deck through the Wick Avenue entrance and make an immediate right at the sidewalk to reach the loading zone.
For the Friday, November 15 program:
A parking reservation has been made for you at the M81 Parking Lot (free of charge). For exact directions to the parking lot’s Scott Street entrance, please use Google Maps GPS Address: 241 W Scott Street Youngstown OH 44502 or Apple Maps GPS Address: 227 Eastbound Service Rd Youngstown OH. Please note: the entrance to the M81 Parking Lot is located on a one-way service road. The opening event will take place at the WATTS, located directly across the street from the lot.

Early tours of campus
- Early walking tours of the campus provided by the Office of Admissions will begin at 8:00 a.m. The last early tour will leave at 8:15 a.m. to be back in time for the morning activities. The tour does not include the residence halls and apartments.
8:30 a.m. - 9:15 a.m.
Check-in and Opening Events
- Visit with representatives from the five colleges, the YSU Honors College and the Office of Career Exploration & Development
- Learn about all the student support services we offer! Meet with Admissions, Financial Aid, First Year Student Services, the Penguin Service Center, the Resch Academic Success Center and more!
- Chat with members of various student organizations and learn more about the student experience
- Take your picture with Pete the Penguin
9:15 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.
Program Welcome
- The YSU Marching Pride will open the program followed by an official Welcome Address from President Bill Johnson. Then stay tuned for some information about the day. When we adjourn, volunteers will guide you to your next destination within the YSU Colleges.

Exploratory Majors Session
- This is your chance to learn about your academic program of interest! Meet with faculty and staff, check out our facilities, learn about internship and research opportunities and see what it will be like to be a student at YSU!
