Job Description:

Student Activities Graduate Assistant for Programming:

General Description: This Student Activities Graduate Assistant provides ongoing programming and activities for the campus of Youngstown State University (YSU).

Specific Duties may include:

  • Serve as a graduate advisor of the campus-wide Penguin Productions Board
  • Participate in ongoing program planning and implementation including Welcome Week and Homecoming Week
  • Represent Student Activities on committees as requested (Safer Sex Week, Alcohol Awareness Week, etc)
  • Monitor, maintain and grow Student Activities social media presence (twitter, facebook, instagram)
  • Develop & implement marketing plans for Student Activities events
  • Assist with the planning & presentation of the annual Student Leadership Summit and Student Leadership Retreat
  • Provide support and assistance with additional departmental projects and initiatives as needed.

The GA is employed to work twenty hours per week (variable schedule) during regular class periods.

Student Activities Graduate Assistant for Leadership:

General Description:  This Student Activities Graduate Assistant serves as the primary point person for the Emerging Leader Program (ELP) and provides ongoing leadership development activities for the campus of Youngstown State University (YSU).

Specific Duties may include:  

  • Participate in and initiate recruitment efforts for the ELP, including SOAR, Crash Day, and providing presentations to student groups
  • Facilitate the required content workshops for ELP participants
  • Maintain records for ELP participants and engage in outreach to market and facilitate achievement of program goals
  • Identify and facilitate community service opportunities for ELP students and guide students in completion of ELP service requirements
  • Create and maintain evaluative records for all program components
  • Facilitate "Penguin Talk" series for student organization leaders
  • Assist with the planning & presentation of the annual Student Leadership Summit and Student Leadership Retreat
  • Provide support and assistance with additional departmental projects and initiatives as needed.
