Giving A Hermitage, Pa., couple and a local trust have made generous gifts to YSU. Stephen Gurgovits

Best of the best YSU’s undergraduate engineering program is among the best in the nation, according to U.S. News. The program was placed in the top third nationwide in the magazine’s latest list of best college programs. Other YSU programs also making the rankings this year were the graduate program in physical therapy and undergraduate business programs.

Giving A Hermitage, Pa., couple and a local trust have made generous gifts to YSU. Stephen Gurgovits, chair of FNB Corp. and First National Bank of Pennsylvania, and his wife, Sandy, donated $100,000 to the YSU Foundation to establish a scholarship in Economics. Gurgovits graduated from YSU in 1972. In addition, the John S. and Doris M. Andrews Trust

donated $250,000 to help fund improvements to the Wick Avenue corridor at YSU. The gift will be used specifically to pay for enhanced lighting along the roadway. Heritage Award The deadline is Dec. 31 to submit nominations for the 2016 YSU Heritage Award, recognizing former YSU faculty and professional/administrative staff who have made major contributions to the university during their years of service.
