Julia Galloway, internationally known utilitarian potter, presents a workshop and lecture Monday, Sept. 28 in Bliss Hall. The workshop will be from 9 a.m. to noon and again 1 to 2:30 p.m. in the Ceramics Lab, Bliss Hall 1059. At 3 p.m., Galloway will lecture at the McDonough Museum of Art. Monday, Sept. 28, 11 a.m. News conference/groundbreaking to announce the start of construction of new student apartments on campus. The site is along Rayen Avenue between Fifth and Belmont avenues. Monday, Sept. 30, 11 a.m. The Rev. Clark Olsen, who was in Selma, Ala., in March 1965 to participate in the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.’s march to Montgomery, lectures in the Youngstown Historical Center of Industry and Labor, 151 Wood St., in Youngstown. The lecture is sponsored by the Center and the YSU Department of History. Olsen traveled to Selma at the request of to join the march. On the night of March 9, racists attacked Olsen, the Rev. James Reeb and the Rev. Orloff Miller as they walked from dinner to a church meeting. One of the attackers hit Reeb in the head with a club; he lost consciousness in Olsen’s arms, and died two days later. Monday, Sept. 28, 4 p.m. Tiffany Anderson (English) presents “GuiltAbility: The Power of Guilt” in the CLASS Dean’s Conference Room in DeBartolo Hall on the YSU campus. The lecture is part of the Faculty Scholars Forum of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. The event is an interdisciplinary forum for CLASS faculty to share their ongoing research, receive feedback from peers and create opportunities for collaborations.

Tuesday, Sept. 29, 7 p.m. John Granger, who TIME magazine calls the “Dean of Harry Potter Scholars,” presents a free lecture in DeBartolo Hall on campus. Wednesday, Sept. 30, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. More than 105 employers from local, regional, and national companies will attend YSU’s Fall 2015 Career Fair and Graduate School Fair in the Chestnut and Ohio rooms of Kilcawley Center on campus. Wednesday, Sept. 30, 12:15 p.m. Free Music at Noon performance featuring musical theater students in the Butler Institute of American Art. Wednesday, Sept. 30, 7 p.m. “The Hockey Stick and the Climate Wars” is the topic of a free lecture in YSU’s Cushwa Hall Room B100, by Michael E. Mann, director, Earth System Science Center, Pennsylvania State University. Saturday, Oct. 3, noon to 3 p.m. Hispanic Heritage Celebration in the Chestnut Room of Kilcawley Center. Free and open to the public, the event features music entertainment, dance performances, children’s activities, cultural displays, vendors, information tables and ethnic refreshments.
