Tickets for “Murphy Meets Motown” concert on sale
Landau Eugene Murphy Jr., winner of the 2011 America’s Got Talent competition who wowed fans at a concert in Stambaugh Auditorium last year, returns to Youngstown to perform again 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17.
Concert proceeds benefit the Diversity Leadership Minority Scholarship Fund at Youngstown State University.
This time, Murphy will be joined at the concert in Stambaugh Auditorium by Motown legends Glenn Leonard, former lead vocalist for the Temptations; Joe Coleman, lead singer for the Platters; and Joe Blunt, lead singer for the Drifters.
Tickets for the Murphy Meets Motown concert, which go on sale July 15, are $25, $30 or $40 and can be purchased at the Stambaugh Box Office, 1000 Fifth Ave., in Youngstown. Call 330-259-0555 or 1-866-516-2269, or buy tickets online.
The scholarship endowment, established in 2009, was designed to recognize students from all ethnic minority groups whose leadership in activities and/or organizations promote diversity and inclusiveness on campus and in the community. The annual scholarship award has ranged from $500 to $675 per academic year.
