SITE Proposal

The McDonough Museum of Art is excited to announce a call for visual artist submissions for SITE: a rotating outdoor sculpture program highlighting regional artists. We seek work that embraces our mission and meaningfully contributes to our campus community, as well as the greater Youngstown community. We work together with faculty and undergraduate students of the Department of Visual & Dramatic Arts to develop programs and exhibitions that enhance the Department’s contemporary and interdisciplinary teaching mission. The Museum offers a range of dynamic programs that include exhibitions, installations, performances, and lectures inviting campus and community members to discover and explore meaning in contemporary art.

Accepted work will be on display on the campus of Youngstown State University, adjacent to the John J McDonough Museum of Art. An honorarium of up to $3,000 will be provided plus financial support for transportation of work. The length of contract will run approximately one year beginning late spring.

Artists must be 18 years of age or older and have a demonstrated record of exhibitions and public art projects. Artwork must meet all public safety, structural, and maintenance standards and comply with the Americans for Disabilities Act (ADA), and all other applicable laws, codes, and regulations. We encourage entries by artists of underrepresented voices and viewpoints.
