Welcome to Youngstown State University! we are so happy that you have chosen to become a penguin! As a new transfer student, you should first contact an academic advisor prior to attending orientation. Additionally, the Office of Admissions will contact you via YSU student email account once your transfer credits have been evaluated.

- introduction to university resources and services
Please note: Orientation sessions take place prior to summer, fall and spring semesters. There is also self-paced online orientation available to transfer students.
Registering for Orientation:
- After receiving your official acceptance packet from the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, follow the instructions enclosed to activate your YSU Penguin Portal account utilizing the Username and YSU student ID number (Y000000) provided. If you have any issues, please contact the YSU Tech Desk at (330) 941-1595 or email servicedesk@ysu.edu.
- Your final step will be to register for your Orientation session on the Penguin Portal. The online reservation system is available 24/7. Space in our sessions is in high demand, so register as soon as possible.
- Instructions and program details will be confirmed via email once your reservation is submitted and a reminder will be sent one week prior to your Orientation date.

To complete the Online Orientation process:
- Log in to the Penguin Portal
- Under the e-Services for Students menu on the left, select •Register for Orientation;
- Register and select the spring/summer/fall online Orientation date (whichever applies to you)
