The YSU String Project offers free private lessons on violin, viola, cello, and bass to children in the greater Youngstown area. Students enrolled in the program can also sign up for chamber music, orchestra, and technique classes on Saturdays, which are taught by graduate and undergraduate string majors in the Dana School of Music. The project seeks to train the next generation of young artists, simultaneously serving area children and training college students in excellent education practices through faculty supervision. The String Project forms the first professional string-instrument training ground of its kind in the city of Youngstown.

Join us at the John J McDonough Museum of Art for the Spring Graduating BFA Exhibition and the Art Education Alumni Invitational Exhibition. The Spring Graduating BFA Exhibition is collaboration with the Department of Art at YSU and features work by students achieving completion of the Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. The Art Education Alumni Invitational Exhibition is an opportunity to honor the almost 90 years of art education at Youngstown State University and highlights a small selection of alumni artists from throughout the region who are also art educators. An opening reception for the shows will be held on Friday evening, April 19, from 5 to 7pm. The exhibit will remain on view in the Museum's galleries through May 4.
