What is the YESS Institute?
The YESS Institute stands for Youngstown State University Enrichment Summer Scholastic Institute. It is a three-week academic readiness program geared for first-year YSU students who identify as one of the following first-generation, low-income, marginalized, and/or underrepresented. The purpose of the summer program is to assist these students with transitioning from high school to college (YSU) and assist these students with gaining a better understanding of the resources available to them. Lastly, we developed this program so that students can develop their learning communities and develop a sense of belonging at YSU.
