Social Work Major
You've always had a passion for helping others—now it's time to get your education in policy planning, community development, crisis intervention and more through our Social Work degree program.
What You'll Study
The Social Work major exposes you to contemporary issues in the field and prepares you for direct service work. Not only will you learn about policies and methods, but you'll be prepared to enter the profession after graduation, working in settings such as public and private welfare agencies, mental health centers, educational systems, correctional institutions, and business and industry.
Through your courses you'll integrate new knowledge, values and skills into competent practice with individuals, families, organizations and communities. A practicum component also gives you the opportunity to apply theories and concepts to practical work with a regional agency and a professional field instructor.
In addition to our on-campus program, Social Work degree completion programs are offered at two off-campus sites:
- Lakeland Community College
- Lorain Community College
Master of Social Work available for this major.
