What You'll Study

There's so much to uncover through courses in the Islamic Studies minor. You'll explore major world religions and further investigate the origins and development of classical and modern Islam. You'll examine the theological, philosophical, legal and political writings and ideas of major Muslim thinkers from the past and present.

In addition, you'll cover topics including Quranic exegesis, the Prophetic Tradition, law, theology, philosophy and historiography as you read literature enriched with Islamic culture. By the end of the minor program, you'll dissect the historical relationship between the Islamic and Western worlds, and how they relate today.
