Creative Writing MFA

Admission to the Creative Writing MFA has been suspended.

A consortium of four univeresities in Northeast Ohio means four times the talented faculty and four times the creative peer group you'll network and workshop with, all in one MFA program.

What You'll Study

The Northeast Ohio MFA program is the only consortial Creative Writing MFA program in the country, bringing together faculty and resources from Youngstown State University, Cleveland State University, the University of Akron and Kent State University.

Cross-listed at all four universities, courses let you explore the finer details of your craft in the genres of fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry and playwriting. In addition, the program offers:

  •  Unique curriculum and workshops
  •  Diverse faculty
  •  Professional internship program
  •  Assistantship opportunities
  •  Guest artists and conferences

Graduating from the NEOMFA program, you'll be prepared to contribute to the literary and cultural circles you're most interested in and pursue new opportunities in arts management; communication, PR and marketing; or in teaching creative writing, literature and expository writing.

One More Thing

What I love about the program here is the community: friends, other students, faculty. I become just as invested in their academic journeys as my own."
