Housed within the Office of the Dean of Students (DOS), the Office of Student Advocacy & Support (SAS) exists in support of YSU's mission to "place students at its center." SAS provides proactive and reactive outreach to students experiencing crisis or distress that impacts their social, personal, and/or academic stability. Students utilizing the services offered through SAS are empowered through utilization of campus and community resources, identification and pursuit of their passions, community engagement, and health lifestyle choices.

Professionals in the Office of Student Advocacy and Support assist and provide care and support to students referred to the Office of the Dean of Students and/or the YSU CARE Team. Our SAS team:

  • Coordinates initial outreach and follow-up meetings

  • Coordinates referrals to on and off-campus resources

  • Serves as a liaison to other departments that support students

  • Advises students on matters related to behavioral health, personal wellness, and personal crisis

  • Assists the DOS and Assistant DOS with students dealing with illness, hospitalization, and/or medical leave
