Dean's Welcome

Welcome to the College of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences!

The College of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences provides students with a small liberal arts college experience within the larger University. Our students have the advantage of the faculty involvement and attention of smaller universities and the resources and faculty expertise and of a larger campus. Our goal is to develop lifelong learners and equip students with an interdisciplinary skill set that are applicable in a variety of careers.

Between our nine academic departments, seven interdisciplinary programs, and 20 different majors, CLASS prepares students for careers in the humanities and social sciences and/or admittance to graduate and professional programs. In addition to its traditional majors in the humanities and social sciences, CLASS offers a Bachelor of General Studies degree (BGS). This degree makes it possible for returning students and those who have already completed many hours to use their completed coursework to finish a degree. Our BGS coordinator works closely with these students to help them to degree completion in the most efficient way possible.

Employers seek out graduates with excellent communication skills, problem solving and knowledge integration skills. Students trained in the humanities and social sciences possess the ability to gather and evaluate information, find solutions to problems and report the finding to others. Every field benefits from critical thinkers trained in different techniques of analysis. Let us help you to unlock the potential within you.
