ADN Application Information

For Fall 2022 Admission:

  • Applications for admission to the ADN Program will be accepted from Monday, June 1 to Friday, July 15 by 4:00 p.m.

For High School students or for those who do not have post-secondary education:

  1.  Apply to Youngstown State University at apply.ysu.edu.  
  2.  Upon acceptance to the university, APPLY TO THE ADN PROGRAM
  3.  Students will be tested for placement in reading, math and writing. 
  4.  Students will be considered using the following criteria:

A. High school transcripts or GED certificate will be reviewed. High school cumulative GPA must be 2.5 with a grade of “C” or better in the following courses:

  • Algebra
  • Biology
  • Chemistry 

B. Completion of the ATI TEAS Exam is required. The ATI TEAS test will be offered at the YSU Testing Center on campus. Please call (330) 941-3175 for an appointment. The ATI TEAS Exam can also be taken remotely. For more details see TEAS testing. Students must score a minimum of 60% (proficient) to be considered for enrollment in the ADN program. The TEAS exam can be repeated once to attain a higher score during the application year. The score is good for two years. 

For Former YSU students and Transfer students: 

  1.  Apply to Youngstown State University at apply.ysu.edu.
  2.  Upon acceptance to the university, APPLY TO THE ADN PROGRAM

A. Submit transcripts from each post-secondary institution. Post-secondary courses must equal at least a 2.5 GPA. Submit high school transcript or GED transcript for complete evaluation. Transcripts of any academic work being completed during the academic year of requested admission must be submitted to the Office of Admissions. 

B. Evidence of the following courses taken with a “C” or better from high school in the last five years or at the college/university level. Higher level courses will be considered: 

  • Algebra
  • Biology 
  • Chemistry 

Students without a college writing course must take a writing placement test. Students transferring a math course from another college or university may need to take a math placement test, depending on the level of the course and how long ago the course was taken. 

C. Completion of the ATI TEAS Exam may be required and will be evaluated individually. The ATI TEAS test will be offered at the YSU Testing Center on campus. Please call (330) 941-3175 for an appointment. The ATI TEAS Exam can also be taken remotely.  For more details see TEAS testing.

For Current YSU students: 

  1.  Submit an application to the ADN program (deadline July 15) by clicking here
  2.  Please assure that all transcripts from any other colleges or universities are on file with the Office of Admissions.
  3.  Completion of the ATI TEAS Exam may be required. See above.
  • Only one attempt will be made to contact students via email if there are questions about the submitted application.
