Important Information About Spring 2022 Move-In

Spring move-in is Sunday, January 9th, 2022.  Students who need to arrive prior to this date can submit a request via this link: Housing Contract Extension Request Form. Students approved to arrive early will be charged a break housing fee of $250 (no meals included).  Limited visitation hours are in effect during break. All guests (defined as anyone not approved to stay for winter break or early arrival) must leave at midnight- there are absolutely no overnight stays.

In order to move-in or return to your residence hall room, you’ll need to complete the following:

  • Your Spring housing bill must be paid in full or you must be re-enrolled in the University payment plan
    • Your financial aid package will be automatically applied to your student account for Spring semester
    • If you had any remaining balance on your student account (after financial aid was applied) for the Fall semester, you should plan to have a similar remaining balance for the Spring semester that you will be responsible for paying and should have a plan in place to do so
    • For assistance in creating a financial payment plan or to learn about options available, please contact Faun Williams at (330) 941 3539 or
  • You must have met the Housing immunization requirement
  • You will need to show proof of negative COVID test within the 72-hour window of your move-in or return
    • Spring move-in occurs on Sunday, January 9 starting at 10:00am.  If you move-in or return on this date, you must be prepared to show a negative test result from Thursday, January 6 or later.
    • Students had the opportunity to take home a free COVID test kit when they left for winter break (to save and use at home, prior to return to campus)
    • Students can also pick up a free test kit upon their return, in order to meet this requirement (local students are welcome to stop by their residence hall desk starting on 1/5 to pick up a test to take at their convenience at home before they move-in on Sunday)
    • Residents are also welcome to organize a test of their own accord in the 72-hour window prior to arriving for check-in
      • Test can be PCR or antigen
      • Test can be organized through the vendor of your choice (eg: Walgreens, CVS, physician’s office)
      • You must obtain official documentation showing your name and negative result, timestamped within the 72-hour window
    • Additionally, there will be a registered nurse available from 10:00am-4:00pm to assist with in-person testing on Sunday, January 9 in the Bresnahan Suites in Kilcawley Center (use entrance from Elm St. by Chick-fil-A)
    • Testing is not required for students who have recently tested positive for COVID (within 90 days of check-in).  In this instance, proof of positive test must be shown and cleared by Housing and COVID Case Managers
    • If you are within reasonable travel distance to return home, it is expected that you will return home to isolate before coming back to campus when you are cleared to do so.  YSU Housing does provide dedicated isolation housing for students who test positive for COVID-19 and cannot return to isolate at home, however, there are a limited number of students we can accommodate at any one time.
  • If you do not plan on returning to housing for Spring semester (withdrawing, transferring, etc), please notify Housing at to receive guidance on the contract termination process.
