Carla Mattiussi

Carla Mattiussi, Career Development Coordinator, offers an unwavering passion for empowering student success through her students. Her main focus area is professional development where she is dedicated to providing a holistic student-centered counseling experience with an emphasis on integrating self-assessment into individualized appointments. Her area of career development includes professional branding, job and graduate school interviewing preparation, and resume content writing. She works primarily with undecided students exploring careers and guides then with connecting career competencies with long term strategic career planning. Carla\'s philosophy incorporates a collaborative, transformational counseling style that emphasizes individual empowerment.

Carla is a certified MBTI Master (one of 566 registered in the US) & Strong Interest Inventory Practitioner (2018) and has specialized training in the integration of both assessments for career counseling. Carla earned a post-masters Educational Specialist (Ed.S) degree in Educational Administration - Higher Education (2017) & certificate in International Higher Education (2011) from Kent State University. She holds a Master of Arts degree in Education from Walsh University (2007), and Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication from the University of Dayton (1994).

Her background in student development includes optimizing communication through branding and individualized skill set building based on assessment. Carla has also acted as a guest lecturer for the Office of Alumni Events (2020) Facebook Live! Events speaking on “Remote Work and Evolving Trends” and “Personality Branding in LinkedIn: Here’s What You Need t Know about Me”. Prior to coming to Youngstown State University in 2016, as Site Director at Walsh University she oversaw a remote satellite campus as a member of a distributed team for almost a decade, worked with Upward Bound (KSU), transfer students (UA), and was adjunct faculty for the YSU Honors College. She enjoys swimming, creative writing, upcycling, yoga, and painting.
