STEM Scholarships

Each year, thousands of dollars in scholarship money are awarded to students enrolled in the College of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Scholarships come from a variety of sources, vary in amount, and are available to both incoming and current STEM students. Below, you will find further information regarding the opportunities that may be available to you through the STEM College.

Current Students

Over 80 scholarships are available to current STEM majors through the YSU Foundation Scholarship Application (link above). By completing this one application, you will be considered for all available STEM College Scholarships for which you are eligible. For a full list of STEM scholarships awarded through the YSU Foundation Application, click here.

Applications must be submitted by 5pm on February 1st every year for priority consideration. Most scholarships also require a completed FAFSA, thus it is recommended that you have it done before February 1st.

Additional scholarship information can also be found on the scholarship board outside of the STEM Dean’s Office in Moser Hall, Room 2200.

Ann Harris Scholarship

    For Junior and Senior Geology majors with at least a 3.5 toward the cost of a summer field camp

    Deadline: March 1st

Incoming Students

First-time STEM students are encouraged to apply for one of our several scholarships available to incoming students. See details below for deadlines and application information.

STEM Scholarship Common Application

Although most of these scholarships require at least sophomore level status, by completing this one application, you will be considered for all available STEM College Scholarships for which you qualify for that academic year, in the event that a new scholarship becomes available. Completed applications must be submitted by 5pm on February 1st every year to be considered for the following academic year. Most scholarships require that a FAFSA also be completed.

Choose Ohio First Scholarship Program

The Choose Ohio First Scholarship Program (COFSP) is a state-funded program for Ohio Residents pursuing a major in a STEM field. The program comprises two components: A Summer Math Bridge for high school sophomores and juniors and a scholarship program for YSU STEM Majors.
