What You'll Study
Your coursework will take you on a journey of lifelong learning, artistry, research and teaching. You will be prepared for a career as an art teacher, leading and advocating for the arts in schools, museums, community centers and other settings. You'll learn how to manage a classroom of diverse students and foster their learning and love for the visual arts.
The Art Education program is designed to nurture your professional teaching skills and your creative and intellectual growth. You will have the opportunity to work alongside faculty who hold a variety of artistic and research interests. With smaller class sizes and hands-on field teaching experience, you'll be ready to enter the teaching profession or an advanced graduate degree program by the end of your four years.

One More Thing
Kacie Gligora, Class of 2016My favorite aspect of the Art Education program is the wide variety of skills that I have gained. From soldering metal and painting portraits, to working hands on with K-12 students, I have learned so much about how to spread my love for art with children. I could not be more grateful for the passionate faculty from both the Art and Education departments."
