Transdisciplinary Living Learning Community

Health and Human Services Transdisciplinary Living Learning Community enhances the Youngstown State experience and promotes success for frst-year HHS students by supporting academic success, facilitating professional  development and encouraging student engagement among faculty and peers in a socially supportive environment. Students in their first year of the HHS Transdisciplinary LLC will participate in shared coursework, (guaranteed  placement in core courses tailored to the LLC experience), residential experience within a cohort and access to  a variety of programming, including but not limited to:

  • Workshops on academic and professional topics
  • Teambuilding and networking opportunities among HHS peers, faculty and professionals in the discipline
  • Opportunities to work with and learn from HHS alumni
  • Social activities and community building
  • Academic and mentorship support from a HHS faculty/advisor and small group discussions in residential setting 
  • Apply course content to real-world cases and situations through extracurricular programming
  • Weekly Shared learning Experiences
  • Peer Support from Resident Assistants with HHS backgrounds
  • Opportunities to get involved in specialized leadership development and service-learning initiative

The HHS Transdisciplinary LLC is a voluntary group of frst year HHS students who share the same Residence Hall and  participate in meaningful academic and social experiences. The community will be housed in Lyden House, with a mix  of activities occurring in the Lyden basement classroom and various academic buildings. Through the HHS Transdisciplinary LLC, students will be presented with unique opportunities, programs and  services to encourage a comprehensive and successful college experience.
