To meet the needs of teachers interested in pursuing a Teacher Leader Endorsement, Youngstown State University now offers a new program specifically aligned to these new supports and standards. This twelve-credit, four course program can be completed within a one-year time frame. Organized as a fully online program, candidates can complete coursework while operating as working professionals. This program is designed for candidates who aspire to be formal or informal leaders in their school or district while remaining a classroom teacher. Courses include: Leadership Beyond the Classroom, Building Capacity of Adult Learners, Culturally Responsive Teaching and Learning, and Data Coaching and Decision-Making. Embedded within each course are diverse field experience requirements which assist candidates in gaining real-world educational leadership experiences and perspectives. These courses are also designed to help aspiring leaders build the skills to improve teacher efficacy and become better leaders both in and out of the classroom.
Upon completion of the Teacher Leader Endorsement Program at Youngstown State University candidates may apply the coursework toward the M.S. in Education in Educational Administration degree or the equivalent as evaluated by the department. The Teacher Leader Endorsement is a certificate program and provides no license in administrative areas.
