Communications

About our Facilities

The department of Communications is equipped with several great facilities for Communications, Telecommunications and Interdisciplinary Communications students. The studios and labs allow students to gain hands-on and real-world experience, while working on projects that fit their ultimate career goals.

ConneX Lab

The ConneX lab was first opened in 2013, with the idea of creating a hub for businesses and nonprofits in the valley. Housed in the basement of Maag Library, the lab includes five iMac computers, five MacBook Pros, 10 iPads and a group video-conferencing hub. A graduate assistant oversees the operations of the lab, including tutoring and scheduling for services.

TV Studio

The studio is a great resource for telecommunications students as they expand in their education. Sony cameras, Grass Valley media server, tricaster, eccolab switcher and mackie audio are all there for your use. There are also EFP cameras and EFP editors available for T-Comm student use as well.

Rookery Radio

Housed in Kilcawley Center, Rookery Radio is YSU's first-ever, student-run internet radio station.
