YSU Department of Art announces Soundscape exhibition at DeYor Performing Arts Center

Soundscape mixed media piece

Youngstown State University’s Department of Art announces the exhibition, Soundscape, opening Friday, Nov. 3 and running through Nov. 17 at the Eleanor Beecher Flad Pavilion Lobby in the DeYor Performing Arts Center, 260 W Federal Street, Youngstown, OH 44503.

The lobby gallery is open daily from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

An opening reception will take place 6 – 8 p.m. on Nov. 3 during Youngstown’s First Friday art walk. Both the reception and the exhibition are free and open to the public

The artworks, by mixed media and painting students in the Department of Art, reflect their approaches to visualization of sounds as materially invisible but visceral and emotional. They responded to a wide range of sounds, from classical music compositions, heavy metal, everyday noises, voices and specific instruments, through mark-making, visual movement and materials used.

Parking is available adjacent to the DeYor Center on the street and in nearby lots for a small fee. More information is available by calling the Office of Community Engagement and Events at 330-941-2307.
