Regional History Day contest on YSU campus April 7

The History Department at Youngstown State University hosts the 42nd Region 4 Ohio History Day contest on the YSU campus Saturday, April 7.

Sponsored by Ohio History Connection, Ohio History Day is an educational program for students in grades 4 through 12. Students conduct research using libraries, archives, museums, and oral history interviews, on a particular theme; this year’s theme is “Conflict and Compromise.” Students analyze and interpret findings, draw conclusions about the significance of their topics in history and create historical papers, original performances, documentaries, creative exhibits and websites as a result of the research.

The Region 4 contest starts registration at 8:30 a.m. in the lobby of DeBartolo Hall. Winners will be announced at a ceremony in the Chestnut Room of Kilcawley Center at 3 p.m. Winners advance to = the state contest at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio, on April 21.
