Good Humor Radio Hour premiers April 10 and 11 at Tyler History Center

Old-time radio drama makes a return to Youngstown this month as the Good Humor Radio Hour, presented by the Good Humor Radio Players, will be performed 7 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, April 10 and 11, at the Tyler History Center, 325 W. Federal Street, Youngstown.

The performance, presented by the Departments of Communication and Theater and Dance at Youngstown State University, features live actors on old-time radio microphones with live sound effects and music.

The events are free, but tickets must be secured in advance by calling the University Theatre Box Office at 330-941-3105.

Four scripts will be performed: KIDNAPPING 101, Never try to kidnap someone without training; DATING 2.0, A modern look at dating – the second time around; BRADBURY’S FUNERAL HOME, Why it’s important to cherish our times together; and the world premiere of THE LONE STRANGER, Yes, a masked man on a horse...and the whole town of West Abalone.

The location of the performance is significant - the building housing the Tyler History Center is the original home of the famed Good Humor bar. Guests will be treated to complimentary Red Ribbon Cherry Soda. Founded in 1905, Red Ribbon is a small, family-owned soft drink company.

Limited free parking is available on Tyler History Center’s west side. For more information, call 330-941-2307.
