Each year, thousands of dollars in scholarships are awarded to students enrolled in the College of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Scholarships come from a variety of sources, vary in amount, and are available to both incoming and current STEM students. Below, you will find further information regarding the opportunities that may be available to you through the STEM College.

Steps to Apply

  • Current STEM Students
    1. Complete your FAFSA before February 1 each year.
      1. Even if you don't qualify for aid through FAFSA, having it completed can help you qualify for scholarships at YSU
    2. Complete the YSU Foundation Scholarship Application by February 1 each year for priority scholarship consideration.
      1. You will be considered for the large majority of YSU scholarships by filling out this one application
      2. International and graduate students are encouraged to apply for scholarships
    3. If you are selected for a scholarship, be sure to follow the instructions you will receive for submitting your thank you note.
      1. Scholarships may not be awarded if a thank you note is not submitted
    • Incoming STEM Students
      1. Complete your FAFSA by December 1.
        1. Even if you don't qualify for aid through FAFSA, having it completed can help you qualify for scholarships at YSU
      2. Complete the YSU Foundation Scholarship Application by February 1 for priority scholarship consideration.
        1. You will be considered for the large majority of YSU scholarships by filling out this one application
        2. Note a large majority of Foundation Scholarships are not available to incoming students, but it's always best to apply and get in the habit of applying every year!
