Degree

Earn your MSE by choosing one of the following three tracks:

  • Thesis Track

    You'll complete 30 credit hours of core courses, technical concentration courses and your thesis. This plan is strongly recommended for all candidates who wish to continue their graduate studies beyond the master’s degree. The thesis provides firsthand experience with experimental design, literature searches, research methodology, technical report writing, and oral presentation of results.

  • Non-Thesis Track

    The non-thesis plan is designed for students who wish to enhance their knowledge and skills to succeed in careers as practicing engineers, but are unlikely to pursue a PhD or doctorate degree. A total of 33 credit hours is required, consisting of core courses, technical courses and a graduate project course. The project course includes a presentation to the engineering faculty and students.

    If you are planning to move into an engineering management role, this track will suit your educational goals. A total of 36 credit hours is required, consisting of core courses, business courses, technical courses, and a graduate project. The project course includes a presentation to the engineering faculty and students.
